Golden Light & Generational Love at McComb Park
There’s something truly timeless about photographing generations together—those quiet, meaningful moments that tell a deeper story than words ever could. Recently, I had the joy of capturing a beautiful “mommy and me” session that included a very special guest: grandma. The setting was the ever-charming McComb Park in Hickory, NC, and it could not have been more perfect.
The sun showed up in the best way—soft, golden, and warm—casting a dreamy glow across the park. But, what truly stood out was the connection between mom and daughter. From the moment we started, their playful energy took over. There were giggles, spontaneous hugs, little dances, and those fleeting expressions that only happen when people feel completely at ease with one another. It wasn’t posed—it was real, and that’s what made it so powerful.
As a photographer, these are the sessions that remind me why I love what I do. It’s not just about the photos—it’s about preserving connection. The laughter, the closeness, the unspoken bond between a mother and her child, witnessed and supported by the generation before them.
I left that evening feeling incredibly grateful. Grateful for the trust to capture such genuine moments, and grateful for the reminder that sometimes the most meaningful images come from simply letting people be themselves.
